Program Description

Learn how to identify and engage in crisis interventions. Participants will gain improved mental health for themselves as well as a greater recognition and understanding of mental health problems. Upon completion participants will be empowered to engage in a dialog with someone with an emerging mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. MHFA does not teach people to be therapists. Participants will receive official certification from the mental health commission of Canada. Can be used for employment.

Course Objectives

Recognize the symptoms of mental health problems

Provide help to prevent the mental health problem from worsening

Guide the person to more appropriate professional help

Provide the recovery of good mental health

Provide comfort to a person experiencing a mental health problem
